THE
ORIGIN
STORY

LIKE all good origin stories this one begins with a dynamic duo in tight lycra …

ok not really but now we have your attention, here’s the real story although possibly exaggerated a little.

Brothers Josh and Kris Goodvinn were busy designing and fitting large-scale signage and boat wraps as part of their signwriting business when using their supersonic dolphin hearing abilities heard the marine community calling out in despair for a non-slip boat flooring hero that looked cool and could stand up to harsh Australian conditions.

As skilled graphic designers and signwriters, they knew they had the cool aspect in the bag but they knew they had to create a product that was the best on the market to bring relief to sore feet, aching backs and solve the problem of slippery, blistering hot boat surfaces across Australia.

And so the development & research began!

They found there’s EVA and then there is EVA. Some are blended to make them harder, some are poor quality and some are cheap and nasty.

On top of quality, their next consideration was the comfort of the bare-foot Aussie fishers'. The EVA had to be hard enough to be durable but soft underfoot.

Next, they specially manufactured 8mm EVA foam when everyone else was offering 6mm and found it stood up to the challenge by providing hours of ergonomic support to the die-hard fisherman. Pun intended.

It was then they used their super strength spiderweb adhesive technology to come up with the perfect high-grade adhesive system reliable enough for the rugged and rough nature of the fishing and boating world and aggressive enough to hold to several boating substrates. Including Checkerboard.

Its this high-grade adhesive system used in conjunction with a professional installation process that continues to grip the nation. (See what we did there. Our comedic ability is obviously not as strong as our adhesive.)

So they decided to hang up the brushes and dive deep into the marine flooring world. Once it caught on to the rest of the world just how awesome Deck Armour is, the business has been swimming ever since!

"I remember not too long ago when the first order of our EVA rolls came to my garage at home. Now, our team has doubled, we’re working 24-hour shifts to keep up with demand and we’ve got two new factories in Redlands Business Park – one dedicated to cutting and deliveries and the other an installation bay, showroom and offices." - Josh.

Recently, Deck Armour extended internationally to New Zealand and Mauritius!

One thing’s for sure, Deck Armour never compromises on quality. That same attitude transcends to the design service – well thought out, super cool and unique – unlike our jokes.
